Privacy Policy & Terms of Service

This document covers how Rightroute collects and uses your data, and the terms that govern your use of the Rightroute iOS app, our Chrome extension and our web application.

Privacy Policy

What We Collect

  • Account info: Email address for authentication (only when you sign in)
  • Property data: Addresses and URLs you save from property sites
  • Area ranking data: Areas you add, ratings, and weights, stored in your browser session if you're not signed in, or in your account if you are
  • Payment info: Handled by Apple for purchases made in the iOS app, and by Stripe for purchases made on the website. We never see your card details.
  • Usage data: Which features you use, across the website, browser extension and mobile app. Details in Cookies & Analytics below.

How We Use It

We use your data solely to provide the Rightroute service: saving properties, generating optimised viewing routes, ranking areas, and managing your subscription. We do not sell your data.

Third-Party Services

  • Firebase: Database and authentication (Google Cloud, EU region)
  • Stripe: Payment processing for subscriptions bought on the website
  • Apple: Payment processing for subscriptions bought in the iOS app. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple also handles that sign-in.
  • RevenueCat: Manages iOS subscriptions on our behalf. Receives your Rightroute account identifier and your purchase history so we know which plan you are on. No payment details are shared with them.
  • Google Maps: Route generation and geocoding
  • Sentry: Error monitoring that captures anonymised crash reports to help us fix bugs. Emails are redacted before transmission.
  • PostHog: Product analytics, hosted in the EU. Records which features are used across the website, browser extension and mobile app. See Cookies & Analytics below for exactly what is sent.
  • OpenStreetMap Nominatim: Address geocoding for route planning (no personal data sent)

Cookies & Analytics

We only load analytics cookies after you give consent via the banner shown on your first visit. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for rightroute.co.

  • Strictly necessary: Firebase Auth session (required for sign-in). No consent needed.
  • Analytics (consent required): Google Analytics 4, which measures page views, session counts, and navigation paths. Data is anonymised and processed by Google.
  • Analytics (consent required): Microsoft Clarity, which records anonymised session replays and heatmaps to help us improve the UI. No personally identifiable information is captured.
  • Analytics (consent required): PostHog, hosted in the EU, which records which pages you visit and which features you use. Once you sign in, these events are linked to your account so we can see how the product is used over time. On this website that link includes your email address.

We do not use advertising or targeting cookies. No data is sold to third parties.

Analytics in the browser extension and mobile app

The consent banner above governs cookies on this website. The Rightroute browser extension and mobile app are not websites and set no cookies, but they do send the same kind of product analytics to PostHog. What they send is deliberately narrower:

  • Browser extension: coarse events only: that it was installed, that you signed in or out, that a property was saved, and whether a save was blocked by your plan limit. Once you sign in these are linked to your account ID. It never sends your email address, and it never sends anything read from a property listing page, so no addresses, prices or listing URLs.
  • Mobile app: feature-usage events tied to an anonymous device identifier. No advertising identifier is used.

If you would rather we did not collect product analytics at all, email us using the address at the bottom of this page and we will exclude your account.

Under UK GDPR, you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data at any time. Email us at privacy@rightroute.co.

Data Retention

Your data is kept while your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your data within 30 days.

Terms of Service

The Service

Rightroute is an iOS app, a Chrome extension and a web application that helps you research areas, rank them side-by-side, save properties from Rightmove, Zoopla and OnTheMarket, and generate optimised viewing routes via Google Maps. You must be 18+ to use the service.

Several tools, including the commuter hotspot map and area ranking, are available without creating an account. When used without an account, data is stored only in your browser session and is not retained by Rightroute.

Sharing & Collaboration

You may generate share links for your area rankings. Anyone with the link can view and add their own ratings to the shared ranking. You are responsible for who you share links with. We do not control what collaborators enter.

Subscriptions

  • Free: 1 list, up to 8 properties (no charge)
  • Casual: 3 lists, up to 12 properties, at £0.99/month or £9.99/year
  • Pro: Unlimited lists and properties, at £3.99/month or £39.99/year

Subscriptions renew automatically at the price above until you cancel them. In the iOS app, both paid plans start with a 7-day free trial, and unless you cancel before the trial ends it becomes a paid subscription. Subscriptions bought on the website are charged straight away, with no trial period.

Where you cancel depends on where you subscribed. A subscription bought in the iOS app is billed by Apple and managed in your Apple account settings, where it needs cancelling at least 24 hours before the renewal date. A subscription bought on the website is managed from your Rightroute account settings.

We offer a 14-day refund to first-time subscribers who bought on the website. Refunds for purchases made through the App Store are decided by Apple rather than by us, so those requests go to Apple directly.

Acceptable Use

Use Rightroute for personal property viewing planning only. Don't use automated tools to access the service, and don't share your account.

Disclaimers

Rightroute is provided "as is". We don't guarantee accuracy of geocoding or route optimization. Routes are suggestions only. Always verify directions. We're not affiliated with Rightmove, Zoopla, or Google.

Liability

Our liability is limited to the amount you've paid us in the past 12 months (or £50, whichever is greater). We're not liable for indirect or consequential damages.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. You can lodge a complaint with the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office) if you're in the UK.
